Community Celebrations

Rancho Quemado celebrates several festivities throughout the year that strengthen community identity and coexistence between neighbors and visitors.

Community Anniversary (March 19)

Activity organized by ADIRQ aimed at strengthening community identity, remembering the history and culture that characterizes the town. The original founding date of the rural settlement is March 19, 1965, when Don Jeremías Ureña settled on these lands. The celebration is moved to the nearest Saturday to facilitate visitation. Activities include children’s games, the play “El Rancho Quemado”, traditional dance, trivia, snack sales, cake to share, and a night soccer match.

Wild Pig Festival (November)

Organized by the Participatory Biological Monitoring Committee, aimed at raising awareness of the local conservation effort for the Tayassu pecari (wild pig) species, which is endangered. The activity takes place at the end of November with snack sales, souvenirs, talks, plant sales, and t-shirt sales with designs alluding to local wildlife.
