Our History

Don Felix Cambronero and Dona Alice Castro are older adults who formed their family of 9 children within the mountains of Rancho Quemado. Due to the difficulties of access to their farm, they decided to buy a property in the center of the community, and make a nice garden full of fruits and medicinal plants that have been valuable during the upbringing of their children (because there was no medical attention nearby in those times). Some time later, seeing the need of some travelers who had to stay in the community because the rivers flooded and impeded the accesses, and having faith that more tourism would come, they built a small wooden hut and plastic roof and started as cabins Laurels.
In 2010, a business plan training was carried out with the UCR and the name of Paraíso Jaguarundi was rethought  in order to highlight the wealth of biodiversity that surrounds them, as well as joining the rural community tourism chain of the ADIRQ and benefiting from a donation project with the CRUSA and UNDP foundation to invest in the improvement of the facilities and build a kitchen. They currently maintain constant visitation and generate employment for close relatives and continue in the struggle to improve the facilities and maintain a warm and authentic service, representative of the Heart of the Osa.
